    The Challenge/Opportunity

    • Context: Hypha Clinical launched a product with strong product-market fit but lacked a cohesive visual identity and messaging architecture. The product brief described a platform that stitches budgets, invoices, and payments together, yet the brand did not visually communicate connection, trust, or clinical rigor.
    • Problem: Inconsistent logo treatments, unclear color hierarchy, and fragmented messaging made it difficult for clinical operations and procurement audiences to quickly grasp Hypha’s value. Marketing assets were not optimized for enterprise decision makers or LinkedIn thought leadership.
    • Opportunity: Create a human, modern identity that signals clinical credibility and systems-level connection, a brand that reads as both approachable and enterprise-ready. Use the hypha metaphor to build a visual language that communicates networked reliability and create a new tag line for financial flows.
    • Constaints: Tight timeline for a pilot launch and demo program; need for immediate social assets and demo CTAs; regulatory sensitivity around clinical language; requirement for accessible color contrast and legible typography across digital and print..
    • Success Criteria: Aunified identity adopted across product and marketing; clear messaging that shortens demo-to-pilot conversion; a set of reusable templates that enable rapid content production; measurable lift in demo requests and improved clarity in sales conversations.

    Audience & Insights

    Primary Audiences

    • CRO operations and finance leads
    • Clinical project managers and site coordinators
    • Procurement and legal reviewers at sponsor organizations
    • Site administrators and investigators

    Key Insights

    • Decision makers respond to clarity and auditability; visual cues that imply process and control increase trust.
    • Site teams need transparent payment status and simple, human-facing language.
    • LinkedIn and email are primary channels for early engagement; assets must be mobile-optimized and scannable.

    Behavioral Needs

    • Fast comprehension of product benefits during short sales calls.
    • Reusable assets for RFPs and pilot proposals.
    • Visual reassurance that Hypha is secure, compliant, and built for clinical workflows.

    Approach & Creative Direction

Framing the Problem We treated the brand as a connective tissue problem: how to visually represent flow, validation, and human trust across technical systems.

    Concept Development

    • Core idea: The hypha as a connective network — small, resilient threads that form a system. This informed the symbol, patterns, and motion concepts.
    • Logo: A rounded, labeled mark pairing “hypha” in grounded black with “clinical” in Hypha Lilac to signal approachability and regulated context. Interlocking letterforms evoke networks and validated connections.
    • Color System: Hypha Lilac as the signature color, supported by Clinical Navy and Procedure Orange for hierarchy and call-to-action emphasis. Secondary accents (Investigator Green, Vital Yellow) provide semantic signaling for status and alerts.
    • Typography: Inter for UI clarity and Inria Serif for humanized long-form content, balancing modernity with readability.
    • Patterns & Iconography: Hyphal network patterns and modular icons that scale from app UI to large-format social art.

    Process and Methods

    • Discovery workshops with product, sales, and clinical leads to align on value pillars.
    • Rapid sketching and digital refinement; three concept directions presented with rationale tied to audience insights.
    • Accessibility and contrast testing; production of LinkedIn carousel templates optimized for mobile.
    • Creation of a concise brand playbook and demo-ready asset pack for immediate use.

    Collaboration and Alignment

    • I led cross-functional reviews, translated regulatory constraints into visual rules, and created a living brand guide to reduce approval friction. Decisions were documented with examples for procurement and clinical audiences.

    Tools & Skills Used

    • Design Tools: Adobe CC, Figma, Airtable
    • Practice Areas: Creative direction, brand strategy, art direction, storytelling
    • Execution: UX/UI layout, prototyping, iconography, pattern systems
    • Standards: Accessibility‑first design, documentation, AI‑assisted asset generation

    Reflection

Rebranding Hypha Clinical was an exercise in making systems feel human. The most rewarding outcome was creating a visual language that both reassures clinical stakeholders and energizes commercial conversations. Next steps I’d explore include a motion system for in‑app microinteractions that visualize payment flow, and a modular case study toolkit that turns pilot outcomes into repeatable sales narratives, continuing to turn the brand into an operational asset, not just a visual one.
